Works perfect. At start screen stays black (cutscene) - can be skipped with pressing [ESC].
Except cutscene - all perfect.
When changing from "Borderless" into Fullscreen or vice versa, the game froze so I had to kill the process.
Black screen after "This game has an autosave feature..."
Used Proton 5.0.9 and Proton 5.9 GE 2 MF (Glorious Eggroll) with no success.
I'm absolutely impressed how well and smooth this game runs on Linux whereas it's a Windows 10 game.
With Experimental or 'normal' Proton version, the cut-scenes aren't shown but some kind of TV screen placeholder skipping the cutscene. Installing a GloriousEggroll Proton version solved this issue and I can enjoy the cut-scenes.
I'd say partially. When on PopOS after start, it made the impression as if the game hangs and PopOS immediately displayed a message box if I want to wait or terminate the game (with my current Manjaro I didn't experience this). In fact don't be discouraged that it doesn't work (I was at first). You just need patience: On my machine it took around 30 seconds until the game properly initialized and you saw something. Until then the screen was black.
Runs perfect and smooth
The savegame from a Windows account is not compatible with the Linux version. Both version are separate from each other. If the Linux version is synced in cloud, the savegame in Windows is not affected (and vice versa).
Working until the main menu
CAMPAIGN MODE: You can select "Campaign" and then when you start: Screen is black and stays black ([ESC] doesn't work) - seems the cutscene.
CONQUEST MODE: You can select the save slot, create your character and when you will start the screen stays black. Cannot be skipped via [ESC]. Only option was to press [ALT + F4] to close the game.
After main menu - black screen
CAMPAIGN: After you select it from main menu and want to start - black screen. CONQUEST: You can create your character and if you want to start - black screen.
In both game modes; ESC didn't work. Had to kill the process. Tried with Steam's 5.0.9 Proton and Glorious Egg 5.9 GE 2 MF. With latter one, game doesn't even start.
Since switched to Fullscreen exclusively (no fullscreen borderless) the game crashed less.
Frames dropped significantly when there's a lot going on on the screen.
With the customization's I did (thanks to the other reporters, summarizing them in my report) the crashes significantly reduced. Sometimes I play 3 hours without a single crash and then there are times where the games crashes 3 times within an hour.
Proton Version used: GloriousEggroll Proton-6.20-GE-1
Customizations:
- In Steam under General, start parameter: PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
- Start the config tool (can be selected when starting the game): Set DirectX to 11 instead of the pre-set 12
- Still in the config toll: Set the window to Fullscreen
This helped me making the ingame crashes less frequent.
