Launches, tracks, and plays fine aside from stuttering and a low frame rate despite what settings of resolution or otherwise. Previous versions of Proton did not work with B&S with the valve index but this does now.
You will enjoy maybe the first little well tested section of the game, but wont enjoy anything else.
I walked into the disco and thought oh cool a silent disco... wait no one is wearing headphones... Nope just mising sounds. Missing Music in lots of places, and I don't think I have heard any enemy gunshots?
Somewhat into the game during a mission that requires you to enter arasaka tower you as soon as I walked into the door I became blind only being able to see with tab / hack vision. This was a huge problem and has persisted for the entire mission with only a minor intermission in the hotel room, and in the car once completed the whole mission. Thus far the blackness has persisted even after completing the mission.
I use i3, this game has been the only thing I have ever seen that refuses to obey i3, no matter what you do you cant escape its iron grasp. Had to ctrl+alt+F2 to log in and kill it from a different session, repeatedly.
Interestingly reloading a save sometimes does odd things like removes delermains face in the car. Or my personal favorite, removes all your weapons from equipped when reloading an autosave in a car sequence where you cant re-equip your weapons ...
Relativeley low utilisation, of both GPU and CPU, while on ultra settings (non DLSS or light rays), yet not that great frame-rate either.
Frequently crashes in certain places, like first time in the delermain car in the tunnel. Had to keep killing the game, reloading, and trying again until it eventually let me through.
Game breaking bugs everywhere, buyer-be-warned, you will have borked saves, persistent black screen that prevents you from looking without using hacker vision, consistent and very frustrating crashes often after long sequences where you are not allowed to save like in a car scene.
Welcome to cyberbug 2077 T_T
Game does not start currentley
I have tried experimental, latest stable proton, and latest Proton-GE. Unfortunately none of them seem to be launching the game successfully. Other than the risk of violating any policies, and swapping two game files, the game is very playable with no issues so far.
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/5613#issuecomment-1050370073 There is a way to launch the game offline and play it without issue (so far). This involves swapping a file around. However on launching the game notifies the user that you are doing something it does not condone, in language that could indicate a ban. So please do this at your own risk.
Some slight issues changing screen size, freezes the game then returns to normal. This might be some funniness with i3.
No online at all, due to anticheat
Please do this at your own risk. It is possible to play the game offline only. See the github link to the proton issue 1245620
While I will still play through the game, the audio problems are a bit tedious and immersion-breaking, along with a noticeable stutter.
There was noticeable and continued crackling throughout play, with momentary reprieves during some conversations.
Stutter in head rotation.
I did get a black screen then steamvr crash after getting on the first train, not sure what caused this.
Game runs flawlessly now after the initial crash. Audio crisp and clean, no stuttering.
(Valve Index) As others have stated it runs fine maybe with a little slowdown but voice audio is borked, have not yet tried fixing it.
(Valve index) Runs smooth as butter after tweak to get sound working by enabling xaudio using launch options( WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command% ). I used to get a very stuttery experience but now it is very smooth, I can turn my head without giving myself a headache.
Near instant crash
Does not launch at all, just black screen for a second then close.
