Entire OS froze completely a few second after the initial logo of the game appeared. Couldn't get out of it in anyway other than forcefully shutting down the machine. I'm on a laptop, so I also tried with optirun (GTX 960M; driver 396.54), same thing.
Played with and without PROTON_NO_ESYNC. No obvious performance differences with either. Then again I only played with all settings in Normal, and other graphic options turned Off. My main issue is that, after roughly 15 mins, textures will stop loading altogether, be it the environment, cars, peds, etc., they will just stop loading. I thought it'd be relevant so I tried enabling PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE, but unfortunately that did not help either. Also my save doesn't appear to be loadable with DX11. It'll just stuck in loading, then the game will freeze. It works fine with DX10 though. Oh yeah, despite what my system information says, I ran the game with optirun (GTX 960M, driver 396.54). My issue could very well be specific to optirun, however.
Only works properly with PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 and PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 (use wined3d and disable esync). The former gets rid of odd yellow hue and the latter gets rid of lag. It might have not been necessary, but I also added LC_ALL=ja_JP.UTF-8. FPS appears to be capped at ~32 while they're dancing, but 60 in menu. Steam overlay works, changing views with number keys also works. Tested with and without optirun.
Graphical regression with Proton 5.0-5. The Direct3D E-mote (live 2d avatars of the girls) won't appear, or in rare cases will appear semi-transparent. No issues with Proton 4.11-13.
Use "HOST_LC_ALL=ja_JP.utf8 %command%" as the game's launch options to enable Japanese locale for proper fonts display.
As long as you're using Proton 4.11-13 + "wmp11" protontricks verb, the game will run very well.
The new "wmp11" winetricks verb is required for video cutscenes playback. Install protontricks, then install "wmp11" verb with "protontricks 333600 wmp11". More info about the verb: https://github.com/Winetricks/winetricks/pull/1489.
Jiggle effects from moving around the game's window aren't working. Pressing P for the jumping jiggles is working as expected though.

The Linux native build capped at 45-ish FPS. There were no hiccups, but it felt sluggish. The Windows build, ran with Proton 5.13-1, capped at 60 FPS and no hiccups. Multiplayer was not tested.
