Works great with compatibility mode!
Enabling compatibility mode in the settings menu completely fixes this.
The frequent crashes noted in my earlier reports seem to have been fixed
Ni No Kuni 2 is a really good JRPG, and plays without any issue on Linux.
I recommend owning a controller - most should work out of the box with linux - as the fastest mouse speed available is horrible. They do support mouse acceleration, but that's not really a good alternative. Of course, you could set your DPI higher, but it's annoying to change systemwide settings for specific applications.
Note that this is (as far as I know) an issue on Windows as well, and not at all related to the proton project.
