Opens the configuration window, but the game doesn't launch
PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command%
Tried different versions of proton, as well as wine. Also tried the PROTON_NO_D3D11=1 %command% suggestion from other users.. nothing worked. Always crashes after leaving the config menu.
I can't advance past the third level because objects necessary to progress are missing.
It's like 95% of the way there, aside from an occasional bug on the controller axis. Mostly smooth experience.
Proton-7.0rc2-GE-1
Fullscreen mostly works, but alt-tabbing can act a little odd at times (particularly when loading)
Running into a bug with my Hitbox. Occasionally if you hit Right, then Left quickly, the Left input gets eaten, and the axis will report neutral until you let go of Left and press it again. I've tested this with other tools, and other games and haven't had any troubles -- only in this one. Trying different versions of proton yields the same results, or no input at all (My controller doesn't work at all with non-GE versions of Proton)
I've played almost 300 hours of Guilty Gear, and over 200 of those hours have been in Linux. I'm quite happy with it!
The online works even better than on Windows (3 minute login on Windows, vs ~20 seconds in Linux)
Stick to 1080p and Proton 5.13-6 to avoid framerate dips and input issues.
Mouse is super wonky when alt-tabbed in fullscreen. Stick to borderless windowed.
There's a bug in newer versions of Proton that frequently causes the game to drop directional inputs. I had issues with pressing Right then Left quickly. In this scenario, Left is eaten until you release and press again. This appears to be the case both with keyboard input, as well as gamepads.
To resolve this, run the game using Proton 5.13-6.
Avoid 1440p or higher. Play the game at 1080p to prevent huge lag spikes when hitting a hard COUNTER. (This bug exists on Windows as well).
FSR is a decent workaround to make up the framerate difference on hi res displays. You can set the parameters in Steam: WINE_FSR_OVERRIDE=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 %command%

Doesn't start with newest patch
I've been playing the game on Linux for months with no problems, but after the latest patch, it either doesn't start at all, or starts and just sits at a black screen.
A blank window opens and closes a few times before it finally gives up and quits.
My settings for consistent fps:
In-game settings:
- resolution 70%
- medium settings
- motion blur off
Steam Deck settings:
- 40hz refresh rate
- FSR off
Unable to play a full match online. I get disconnected partway through the match.
