Game gets to main menu but can't start the game

The start button on the main menu is greyed out and I was unable to start the game at all. Tried creating new character but I constantly got the error that my steam save storage space was full even though I had 0 MB used according to Steam. Tested with different versions of proton, different startup options, reinstalling, and other possible workarounds. No help online on the problem. After half an hour I was still unable to start the game, so I had to get a refund
