Plays beautifully after that. I would not recommend enabling increased internal resolution with this mod, as it breaks many graphical and audio elements. Enabling widescreen via the .ini file of the mod looks great and works fine.
This was my first time experiencing MGS1 and I had an absolute blast, enough to do a FOX run, all of the VR Missions, and Platinum the game.

Plays beautifully after that. You can mod the game even further with higher quality texture and audio mods from Nexus Mods.
My only complaint is that it's a little brutal on battery life if playing without a charger, although I didn't bother tinkering with settings to try to get battery battery life.

If waking from sleep mode, game will run at 2x speed with higher pitched audio, most noticeable during cutscenes. Just remember not to put Deck in sleep mode when playing. Otherwise, runs and plays perfectly. I would also recommend enable gyro to function as right control stick. Doesn't offer 1:1 aiming unless you make further adjustments, but it can help with precision aiming once your reticle is close enough to your target.
When playing docked to a monitor, game cannot recognize gamepad after losing connection (controller going into sleep mode, undocking, Deck itself going into sleep mode).
If you're playing docked to another monitor, just remember to save often, don't let your controller go to sleep, and don't undock or put the Deck into sleep mode. Works perfectly OOB otherwise. Issue does not repeat when playing in handheld mode.
Runs great OOB after the recent big patch. Only had one random crash during Shinobu's stage that never repeated. Fun to platinum.
Plays great OOB. Had one random crash that never repeated. Achievements are still bugged and hasn't been patched, so you can't Platinum it.
One random crash. Never crashed again.
V1.08 added language support and some easter eggs from the console versions, but broke input latency in a way that always causes an input delay.
You can install this mod https://gamebanana.com/mods/512850https://gamebanana.com/mods/512850 into the game's directory in Desktop mode to fix the input delay and make it much more enjoyable in my opinion. Just don't use this fix if you intend on submitting any speedruns.
