I get disconnected from the match after one second.
-dx12
The recent patches and changes on the Epic Games version did not change anything about the situation on Steam, atleast not for me.
It took them long enough but ever since they added it, the Proton support has worked pretty well
AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV gamemoderun gamescope -f -o 30 -r 175 -h 1440 -w 3440 -H 1440 -W 3440 -- %command% -dx12 -ResX=3440 -ResY=1440
The game has really bad freezes (great during skillchecks) but I have friends that have the same issue on Windows running decent systems.
The launcher works but the game doesn't open. I guess the kernel level anti-cheat is required for the coop campaign as well.
Doesn't work at all
The Tide of Desolation update destroyed the compatibility

I tried the "sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="0 1000"" but that did not change me getting kicked after a few seconds every time.
The game was not able to establish a connection to the matchmaking servers until I used "sudo sysctl -w net.ipv4.ping_group_range="0 1000"" and restarted the game. I think this is only true for Debian.
A game specific fix was made to DXVK, which is not yet included in most Proton versions, but it will be soon enough.

You need to force the use of Proton Experimental for Hunt: Showdown and select the bleeding-edge branch under 'Betas' in the Proton Experimental settings to access the latest features and fixes before they are officially released.
Can't see the menu
I see the splashscreens but the menu is all black besides the mouse cursor.
The game still crashes as soon as any building is selected from the build menu
This problem was present in the demo version and made it into the early access release version. I tried all kinds of Proton versions but it manages to crash the GPU driver and leaves me with a black screen until I reboot.
I had constant crashes when placing buildings but ever since this was fixed by Mesa, the game runs flawlessly.

Overall very impressive. Steam launches the Rockstar Games which sucks just as much as on windows.
I have minor audio annoyances but that's most likely due to my weak CPU.
After the game wasn't focused/in fullscreen the GUI shows keyboard bindings instead of the gamepad ones and some inputs do nothing. Super easy to fix, just press ESC once after tabbing in and do any controller input.
The game crashes occasionally because of a bug in the Nvidia drivers.
I can't use DLSS. "PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1" works fine but "dxgi.nvapiHack = False" causes the game not to start.
I stole those from here: "PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 WINE_FULLSCREEN_FSR=1 PROTON_HEAP_DELAY_FREE=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command% -vulkan -width 1920 -height 1080 -USEALLAVAILABLECORES -cpuLoadRebalancing -ignorepipelinecache"
The Rockstar Launcher and the Social Club work great. (The overlay only draws a mouse cursor if it was already drawn like in the ESC screen)
Proton-7.1-GE-2 GloriousEggroll
I used the GloriousEggroll version of proton.
Minor thing, after the game lost focus the HUD will show Keyboard bindings and the controller inputs feel weird. Press start once, to open the ESC Menu and use the analog stick to go up/down once. Press Start again and the Hud will show Xbox inputs like it's supposed to.
The game crashes from time to time thanks to a bug in the Nvidia drivers. A temporary fix is to add Option "Interactive" "0"
after Section "Device"
in the config located at /etc/X11/xorg.conf
It should look like this: Example image
The Xbox chromium login popup does not load. Can't get past the splash screens.
gamemoderun %command% -dx12
Ubisoft removed Battleye on the 31th August 2023 (date from SteamDB) and they fixed the GPU driver check. Seems to work flawlessly now (even with the Ubisoft Connect version). Thanks Yves!
