Runs pretty great with ALVR to stream to a standalone VR headset

Works Out of the Box
Simple to get running out of the box. Requires no tinkering.
Works out of the box.
Great VR game running perfectly with proton
Valve Index - Runs great once you turn down the resolution a bit.
Lower framerate than expected, given the hardware. It's still completely playable if you turn down the resolution a bit.
PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=90 %command%
On full details, there are some minor lag spikes now and then, which I did not experience on windows. But that is nothing that will ruin your fun at all.
The game runs fine, however the complete steamvr experience is not very porformance optimized yet in linux, an vega 56 has occasional stutters on 100% resolution on the valve index even on 80hz

a wonderful vr experience which it works excellent using proton

No problems at all

Unable to get passed the screen that says "This is a seated VR experience". There's a circle with the right hand side shaded and the word "Confirm" next to it, which probably means that I'm supposed to press something to continue, but I've tried every button and nothing works. I can not see my hands (on Valve Index + Valve Index Controllers)

Proton 4.11 has resolved all controller related issues.

Proton 4.11-1 Forward fixes Index controller support. Runs perfectly, albeit GPU demanding.

Does not detect Index controllers. Stuck at the first screen.

I played with the htc vive, the game runs great on high graphics. You can change the graphics quality and controls in the settings.

VR on mesa is not perfect yet (e.g. reprojection) so when your system is struggling keeping up performance you notice it. Other than that I noticed no gameplay issues.
