Game run perfectly
No issues after completing four levels

Works fine with some minor issues (menus overlapping and sometimes the game doesn't quit properly), anyway, it's playable out of the box.

if entering the menu from the game it doesn't re-load the menu screen and the menu text overlaps every time an option is selected (yet to check the experience on windows), doesn't really impact the gameplay itself
I contacted the publisher about the naming error and they corrected it from they'r side, now the tinkering is not required anymore

the game runs fine and smooth, given that you patch the naming error (that affects windows too)
the game is broken both on Linux and on Windows due to a mismatch on the executable name and the data folder name, so they are theyr assets are not found by steam and the executable itself, the executable in the game folder is called "Newt One.exe" and must be renamed in "NewtOne.exe", the data folder is in the same folder as the executable and must be renamed from "Newt One_Data" to "NewtOne_Data" after that the game run as it should
if you go from a game to the main menu it doesn't re-load the screen and the text of the menus appear on top of each other rendering it hard if not impossible to read, haven't tested the behaviour on Windows yet

Game works great by itself, requires renaming some files in the game folder
The correct steps to launch the game from Steam are:
- Go to game folder %STEAM/Steam/steamapps/common/Newt One
- Rename the folder "Newt One_Data" to "NewtOne_Data"
- Rename the executable file "Newt One.exe" to "NewtOne.exe"
Launch the game in Steam it will trigger a re-download, but everything works.

The below issue is present on Linux and Windows: For some reason the game files seem to no longer work properly when attempting to launch via Steam. Steam claims there is a missing .exe when it's just named wrong. Attempting to adjust the naming issues causes the game to freeze at it's menu. If you launch the game via the game folder, there are missing assets/text. This also causes the game to not recognize your controller at all. The game did work just fine prior to Dec 2019 (controller and all). If this issue did not exist, I believe the game would work perfectly.
