Runs fine after using Protontricks. Without it, latest Proton raises `shader: failed to compile vertex shader` and GE-Proton never launches.
In Protontricks, run a command line shell and execute protontricks 63700 d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43
. The game should now run on the latest Proton with no issues.

Difficult to play without a mouse, but with a gyro config tweaked to comfort it's close enough. GE Proton required.
Native build doesn't launch. Vanilla Proton gives an error and then closes. GE runs without issues.

Had to tweak trackpad sensitivity a little to make it feel right.
Game crashed with a vertex shader error on initial startup. Changed to GE-Proton7-31 and it performed a DirectX install then proceeded to freeze upon launch. After force closing and relaunching it ran perfectly though. Without Vsync was getting an almost locked 300fps.
Mouse control is needed at first to navigate to the menu where you can enable the gamepad. After that you can navigate the menus with the thumbsticks and/or trackpads, whichever you prefer.
"No Vertex Shader"... Switched to OpenGL Beta and it went away.
After I switched to the OpenGL beta everything worked smoothly. And with the wiimote community controller layout it felt very similar to playing it on the wii, though you may need to use the right trackpad to course correct the gyro occasionally.
Change the install to the unsupported OpenGL beta version of bit trip beat, game then fully works.
Select the unsupported opengl beta after install in the steam properties
maybe fixable? idk.

Graphics tablet maping was screwed up when focused on the game.
You cannot run this game without tinkering. If attempting to run the game without modification, an error will appear with the text "shader: failed to compile vertex shader."

Crashed at launch with "shader: failed to compile vertex shader"
If you enable the beta, you can get it to launch without sound... but what's the point.
Needed this personally as i don't have Vulkan
protontricks 63700 d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43
- Remove the "Dependencies" folder
- Run the game once to let it fail
- Run "protontricks 63700 d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43" in a terminal.

I got an instant error "Fatal error: shader: failed to compile vertex shade."

I used the same workaround as described in an earlier comment for this game: install game, but do not run -> run command: rm ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/63700/dep -> attempt to start the game -> run command: protontricks 63700 d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43 -> attempt to start the game again; game now runs.
I needed to make sure I had protontricks 1.2.3, as protontricks 1.2 did not work

Crash on launch.

same workaround as described by other user for the game beat.trip runner : install game, do not run, delete foler "dep" in game directory, atempt to run once, then run "protontricks 63700 d3dcompiler_43 d3dx9_43" ; game now works!!
