very enjoyable! i expected this game to not run at all but using ALVR and some workarounds to get it to work (very annoying), it booted!
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/SteamVR/bin/vrmonitor.sh %command%
symlinked ~/.steam/steam to ~/local/share/Steam (so the .local Steam folder is my .steam's steam folder), also used ALVR
used proton 9.0-4

Game runs wonderfully even in multiplayer, I suggest lowering the graphics and resolution for the highest framerate and responsiveness.
Official Valve Proton 9.0-4 and 10.0-1 (beta) all currently work perfectly, as of 2025-05-20 even Proton Experimental works perfectly, although I still suggest using GE-proton10-2 or more updated version of Glorious Eggroll's custom version of Proton for the best experience, you can easily get them using ProtonUp-Qt.
No custom game start command tested, works well without any in my setup.
I am currently using KDE Plasma 6.3.4 with Wayland.
I play using ALVR v20.13.0 to stream over wifi to a Quest 2 and everything works perfectly, audio ouput and input from the headset (remember from within SteamVR to select the correct audio output and input devices tho), streaming latency is minimal especially with lower resolution and higher refresh rate set in the settings, just need a quick fix as explained here https://github.com/alvr-org/ALVR/wiki/Linux-Troubleshooting#fix and remember to start SteamVR from the ALVR Dashboard and not from Steam (if you did by mistake exit SteamVR and then start if from the ALVR Dashboard).

Launch straight out of the box with GE-Proton. Main menu had slight stuttering because my system (Nobara) does not support motion smothing in VR (As far as i could tell). In an actual match it was smooth and comparable to Windows 10.
Works again!
HTC Vive.

Recording device in pavucontrol would show "Unknown Device". After setting the input device manually, the voice chat worked. (I'm using pipewire-pulse)
Sometimes I could not hear voices for a whole round and it would come back when returning to the lobby.
Voice chat has issues, but the gameplay itself is fine.
Can only see the 2 intro logos and then a black screen on Ubuntu.
Using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and Valve Index, Proton Experimental (runs Contractors VR) with Nvidia Vulkan shaders

Crash to desktop after the loading screen
Launches to the intro screen, but crashes right after that

Can only be started using the vrml beta
Only the vrml beta cn even get into the game. I was able to play the tutorial, but unable to play ANY missions
Flawless experience. Worked out of the box and without any issues.
Now it works well without any additional actions!
Can't use walkie talkie in tent (or maybe that's just me not knowing how)
I tested on Windows 10 and on Linux, and got a bit more stuttering until I used Radeon Profile to pin my GPU at max fan speed and max performance. After that it was very smooth (smoother than Windows).
As an extra note, the laser pointer from the Valve Index controller seems to be tilted up by an extra 45 degrees compared to normal. You may have to tilt your controller down a lot further to be able to point at things in the main menus.
Crash after clicking play
Crashes after a second

Crashes on SteamVR launch. Tried with oculus and same things. CrashID=bp-5862c8c6-6a3e-4cec-9015-173f4213482

Crashes on launch.

Plays a few seconds of sound, then crashes.

Crashes on launch

No change from previous report. Game menu works but boots you back into the game menu whenever you try to start/enter a game.

HTC Vive. Menu area works fine, but unable to get into any game (going into the loading area for a map boots you back into menu)
