powertools, SMT off, set threads to 2
both this game and resurrection run smoothly with decky loader and powertools installed with the settings listed and have really bad freezing issues without it. opening has audio sync/stutter issues half the time and all other anime/prerendered cutscenes (at least in resurrection) don't play properly (have audio, video replaced with generic color bars). all in-game cutscenes play properly and audio has no issues playing otherwise. it's possible this could be fixed by changing the video file type but, seeing as i have no clue how the game loads those files, this could also just cause more problems than it would fix.
games also have a few other issues (specifically particle effects being invisible when overlapping with the skybox in any way and the ai not exactly behaving as intended) but those have to do with the ports themselves and nothing on the deck's end as they also occur on my laptop running windows.
overall definitely a good way to play these games if you don't mind taking a stop to youtube for the broken cutscenes. also recommend the fanmade ai patch to mostly fix the somewhat buggy companions.

taskset -c 0,2 %command%
tdp 7 watts gpu clock 1100 MHZ
this review is more so for ressurection as i cannot seem to write one on ressurections page
taskset -c 0 %command%
Game will randomly freeze when loading new assets without launch options. It appears the game wants to run on a single CPU core and SMT disabled. On steam deck you can get away with using 2 cores using the launch options: taskset -c 0,2 %command% however there is still a chance that the game may randomly freeze, I only had this happen 2 times during my 70 hour play time and it went away on its own after waiting a minute or two. If you are running this on Desktop linux I would recommend to stick to one core using the same launch option but like this: taskset -c 0 %command% . The game seems to not have been optimized to run on multiple threads leading to this behavior, which seems to be the case for many older games. Steam deck users can also use the DeckyLoader and Powertools plugin if they dont want to use the launch options.
Install Decky Loader plugin then use that to install PowerTools. As with previous report, turn SMT off and set threads to 2. Can also scroll down to save settings for every game launch. Fixes loading time issues without the menu fps issues from PROTON_NO_ESYNC or FSYNC. There does not seem to be performance issue during combats. Currently using Proton 8.0.5 which is the steam default.

You need to use the latest Proton-GE for the prerendered videos to play (the opening movie is the only one I've seen with problems for now). The prerendered videos play, but have no sounds, I tried installing codecs with protontricks but there is still no sound in the opening. The game freezes and loads slowly, using PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 fixes the loads and freezes, but FPS goes down to sub 10 in fights and menus. To fix the fps issues use the PowerTools Decky plugin and disable SMT, then assign only 2 threads. For some reason this change immediately makes the game load fast and the FPS is locked on 60 in menus and in battles without the need for the PROTON_NO_FSYNC and PROTON_NO_ESYNC environment variables.

Game becomes unresponsive for several minutes when in menus and sometimes freezes mid gameplay.
Game freezes for several minutes when loading new assets, probably some issue with the way it uses threads.
After some experimenting the best option I found for running this game is to install Decky Loader and Powertools plugins. Within Powertools disable SMT and set thread count to 2. After doing this the game ran fine. I did not need to disable FSYNC or ESYNC.

PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
This game seems to work fine until you are on the character creation menu or when changing loadouts. By default it will softlock on the deck anywhere from 1 - 5 minutes during changes. To fix this issue I disabled esync and fsync in the launch options.
PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
This immediately fixed all above issues and the game is running smoothly. Enjoy!
The game takes literal minutes to load into. Given how basic the overall graphics of this game is, I did not expect this level of long loading. Almost every screen that involves loading either new 3D models (e.g., gear change) or 2D sprites (e.g., follower personal skills menu) take ages to load said asset. Sometimes the menus will also lock up (prevent you from navigating into a lower level or out of the current level) while the assets are being loaded.
This report applies to God Eater 1 Resurrection, which is bundled with GE2 Rage Burst. GE1R is marked as "Steam Deck Verified", which imo should absolutely not be the case. At best, it should be marked "Playable" with notes about significant performance issues, if not outright marked as "Unsupported" due to how poor the experience is.
60+ second loading times, every time. Takes several mintes just to get to a mission. May also suddenly freeze mid-gameplay (music will still play).
Sleep mode for this game takes 5-10 minutes to actually put the game to sleep and wake up.
Trying to customize characters will take 5-10 to load new hair, clothes, etc.
Certain rooms take significantly longer to load than others.
Game freezes or takes a long time to load constantly.
Typing is also a pain for this game on the Steam Deck and sleep or wake up takes 5-10 minutes.
