The game ran great out of the box, it auto sets everything to low so go into the settings to set your resolution and settings to max.
Missing textures on water when anti-aliasing is enabled, disable to fix
Was unable to set my resolution to native 2560x1600, played at 1440x900. A sliver of the screen was also showing the desktop
I would recommend many play this game, I had to buy it using a key website as the game was delisted on steam, and I do not regret! Other then what I listed above, this game runs amazingly and has very few issues, none of which affect the game in any meaninful way.
some character models were plain black
everything worked perfectly given this is a native port. game ran perfectly max settings locked at 40 frames but might be better with tweaks
If you don't care about Anti-Aliasing and can stand playing with jaggies, the game works perfectly (Proton 7.0)
Changed the resolution to 1080p (not supported out of the box) ".../Prey 2006/base/preyconfig.cfg" seta r_customHeight "1080" seta r_customWidth "1920" seta r_mode "-1"
If you enable the in-game AA (either 2x or 4x) anything meant to be transparent (aka water or glass) become pitch black, otherwise the rest of the graphics look fine.
Without tinkering the "preyconfig.cfg" you'll still be able to play but there's no option for 1080p or higher, max resolution out of the box is 1900 x 1200
There is some slight color banding that is really only noticable in shadow gradient translations. I've gotten used to it after playing for awhile and now barely notice it.
Prey plays great on the Steam Deck. The community controls that are automatically selected are very well made for playing Prey to right away.
Works perfectly (Doom 3 engine)
The color depth reduction is very noticeable and distracting.
Color depth is noticeably reduced. Enabling anti-aliasing will cause the game window to shrink to the bottom left corner when you're hit and it will cause transparent models to be rendered black.
Mouse movement seemed to stutter a bit.
I used autoexec.cfg from this guide: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1813176155
The screen is completely black and unresponsive with only the menu theme playing if the game's resolution doesn't match the system's native resolution; that's easily solvable with the guide I linked. It can be a problem if you have a very weak hardware and don't want to turn other settings down too much.
The game seems to run great (on my system).

Crashes first time. Runs perfect second time onward. Custom resolution works, runs through the introduction sequence (start to first blue portal) just fine, have not tested further.

There's a Linux native installer available, but installing through Proton works absolutely perfectly, is convenient and allows to keep track of playtime etc. Lack of sane alt-tabbing support and requiring editing a configuration file for unlisted resolutions are issues, but these exact issues are also present on Windows so this doesn't impact the platinum rating.

This game is old - from 2006, using id Tech 4 - and it runs flawlessly. I hope I don't mislead anyone thinking that this is the new Prey; this is the original game to bear that name. Runs flawlessly on my system without tweaks and everything as-is.

If I enable any sort of anti-aliasing, the game will be stuck at a black screen. Other than that, runs well at 1440p with the open source AMD drivers. May not perform as well as the native or Windows versions, but I have not tested those.

Runs out of the box. Force 4K (or HD) in "Prey 2006/base/preyconfig.cfg": seta r_customHeight "2160" seta r_customWidth "3840" seta r_mode "-1"

Some issues with the camera, I can't turn around because has side limits, you can solve this switching to windowed mode..

The game experiences heavy stuttering multiple times per second. I would not consider playable in this state.

No noticeable issues
