Minor stutters on occasion, game would hang for a few seconds sometimes on later levels.
Crashing would occur with resolutions above 1080p on Windows, not clear if also an issue on Linux.
The game runs fine on my PC but when I try to stream from my PC to another device the screen constantly flashes red, green, and blue.
The games custom mouse cursor is invisible. Moving the mouse can slow the game to single digit FPS, possible only while a gamepad is plugged in or only when in windowed mode. The game is designed for twin stick controller so I didn't do extensive testing.
The game slows to single digit FPS when moving the mouse inside during a level.
Note that you have to press "Start" on player one's controller to make player 2's ship spawn. This is just how the game works.
The game has some slight issues, but these are problems with the game itself, and are also present in Windows. The dynamic audio system cuts itself off, the game will crash to desktop if you try to view the leaderboard while offline, and the framerate is capped at 60FPS even though the settings menu will let you set whatever you want.
The only real Linux problem is that mouse/keyboard support is borked, (invisible mouse cursor, tanking FPS) but the game was originally designed to be played with a controller anyways.
Game defaults to windowed which displays in a small area ni the center of the screen. Using either "fullscreen" or "borderless fullscreen" in the options menu remedies this and fills the display.
Very minor issues here, you could almost mistake the title screen music for actually including this quirk originally. I believe starting this game with the PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 %command% fixes this crackling for myself.
The ingame option titled "Borderless Windowed" has noticable letterboxing around the left, right, and top of the screen, as if the window title still existed. The ingame option titled "Fullscreen" cannot be Alt-Tabbed out of, nor does any other escape sequence i know of work.
This is likely an issue which occurs on Windows versions as well. This game appears to only support the Xbox 360 input format, so by default, my Xbox One controller did nothing(although the ingame displays for menu navigation did show the Xbox controller's face buttons). After remapping with Steam Input's configuration, using the "Gamepad" template for the Xbox 360 controller, the controller worked as expected.
Initially opening the application led me directly to an issue regarding DirectX 10 compatibility, error code 0x80004005. After acknowledging this error, the game would close instantly. Opening the game with the advanced launch option "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1%command%" fixes this issue altogether.
Furthermore, the online portion of this game must've died out years ago, but I can easily hop into the matchmaker and wait around. Leaderboard submissions go nicely too!

Doesn't start
As other users, game seems to run and instantly quit. Sometimes shows a black window briefly, sometimes nothing at all. I too have newest Nvidia drivers, and perhaps that's the issue, but no idea how to change that.

Flawless performance.
Completed full playthrough of Adventure Mode (14 hours). No crashes, glitches or performance problems.
All graphics/sound/input options work as expected, was able to alt + tab and switch from keyboard + mouse to gamepad seamlessly.
Multiplayer untested.

Singleplayer tested, seems to work great.

A small black window opens and closes immediately

Runs perfectly out of the box. Xbox 360 Controller working.

A small window opens, looks like it will work, and then the process shuts down. Maybe it's my unsupported driver version.

Screen tearing - otherwise runs smoothly
