Performance is great better then windows but i'm experiencing a spacial audio bug, all the sound appart from the radio come from the left
-nobattleye
spacial audio bugged, footsteps, car sound and speech always come from the left
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
Vram usage 1440p ultra high rt 7GB

Spacial audio is only in left side of headphones/speakers
Online also doesn't work due to Cockstar not enabling Battleye Linux support

Only just started playing but so far seems solid as a rock at 4k 60hz and all the RT turned to Very High.

Spacial audio is bugged, footsteps and car sound come from the left, the radio is ok
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
Runs better than windows, vram usage at 1440p almost ultra high rt is about 7GB

-nobattleye
Spacial Audio is buged, footsteps and cars sounds come from the left, the radio is fine
Doesn't work under wayland with PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 the launcher gives an error
The game Runs Great, better than windows, Vram usage with almost all ultra and high ray tracing at 1440p it's about 7.5GB

Make sure you add those arguments, works pretty well after that. Online doesn't work though

framerate drops while moving mouse rapidly with RT on
I've noticed that I drop frames with RT on, if I'm pressing the button to look behind the character or if I'm moving the mouse camera a lot.
Ran perfect at max settings

I have stereo, but audio output is working with 11 (!) channels. I have no idea how to fix this.
Game works flawlessly, just no way how to play multiplayer and my personal audio issue.

Kicked from online by battleye
Only single player is avilable to play due to battleye.
Works seamlessly with all recents proton

Instantly kicked by BattlEye upon joining online session (including Invite-Only sessions)
Installed game via the Rockstar laucher without issues.
Singleplayer only worked with Proton 10.0 (1747306081 experimental-10.0-20250515). Trying to start game with Proton 9.0 failed with error "Failed to initialize DirectX 12 adapter (ERR_GFX_D3D_NOD3D12)".
Multiplayer does not work, not even in Invite Only sessions. Got instantly kicked by BattlEye. Migrating GTA Online account from Legacy to Enhanced worked fine, though.

Launches but freezes immidately
-nobattleye
I can launch the game and get to the initial intro screen but it freezes almost immidately. Nothing I try seems to fix it.

Limit fps to 45, TDP 10w, lowest settings
45 fps avg mininal dips. If you don't enable TDP the game will still draw 20w

Blurry/out of focus cutscenes, can be fixed by lowering the Post FX setting under Graphics
No anti-cheat support, you'll get kicked by BattlEye within seconds
It's fine as long as you don't want to play online.

I got to the point of installing the game, but in the first loading screen it froze and exited the game.
I tried different proton versions (9.0-4, 10.0-1 (beta) and proton hotfix) but none worked

Singleplayer runs great, same or slightly better performance than on Windows. No multiplayer due to lack of anticheat
Setting "Post FX" to Very High resulted in all of the cutscenes in the game looking blurry, like the camera is out of focus. Setting to High or lower has fixed the issue

Runs perfectly! Only issue is depth of field (at least when running through Proton Hotfix)
Depth of field is completely bugged if those post effects are enabled above "high." If I disable in game DoF, it doesn't do anything.
Many cutscenes look god awful, and I have yet to find a fix. I'm going to play around with it for a little bit.
Online probably does not work since it uses an anti-cheat, and that doesn't play well with linux.

Blurry cutscenes
After the installation, it ran first time smoothly with the GE-Proton9-26. But from the next attempts it showed the message "Game is not installed properly. Maybe try reinstalling". Tried to follow other contributors suggestions. Changed to Proton hotfix, Proton experimental etc. Also deleted and reinstalled the Rockstar social folders in the installed location (by verifying game files integrity). But nothing worked. Then from a forum I was directed to a github page, where it said to run the steam version of the game using GE-Proton9-27. Did that and voila! Game ran smoothly.
But there are still 2 problems,
- Game cutscenes are very blurry
- Online mode does not even launch due to the battleye issue.
If the game ran fine and you can make peace with these 2 issues, you will have a good time playing this game on linux.

It worked perfectly. I have no idea what causes my spatial audio issue, but seeing other posts not report it, I'm most likely an outlier.
game-performance
The spatial audio is bugged, where every sound is slightly to the left (like footsteps or car engine), while there's no directionality of other sounds (no clear indication of forward, backward, left or right for objects around you)
It worked amazing otherwise. I could crank up graphics to ultra/max, including RT to max, and I had perfectly playable framerate on my Nvidia machine.

I was not able to run the game natively or some version of proton. Only proton 10.0-1 (beta) worked for me. Game runs better than windows.
Only Proton 10.0-1 (beta) got the game working

i opened the game and the error said dx12 error my gpu is supports dx12 and uptodate but i cant open and install after rockstargameslauncher
DX12 ERROR (my gpu is supports dx12)

Rockstar Launcher required me to log on once then was not an issue
You must disable FSR and VSync in the game options menu otherwise it will repeatedly crash on startup. This can be worked around by editing the graphics settings file in the game folder in Desktop Mode.
Just to add to my previous report. VSync and FSR were causing crashes. Various versions of Proton work fine (GE, Experimental, Hotfix and 10.1 beta) so the crashing issue was in-game options and not a proton issue.

Rockstar launcher sign in required.
Hardware Fps cap crashes the game on start up. Disable in the steam overlay.
Works very well once in game (stable 40fps on High). Occasional crashes on start up can be fixed by removing fps cap in the steam overlay or switching Proton (GE, Experimental and Hotfix worked well)

The game doesn't launch without the command. Online doesn't work because, of course, all Linux users are hackers, and cheating definitely doesn't exist by shutting us out. But story mode is completely playable and runs great, including raytracing. Having ambient occlusion turned on makes cutscenes look like you're watching them through a layer of Vaseline, but that could be a bug with the game rather than Linux/Proton.
Anti-cheat has borked this. Weird move from rockstar to not allow gta on linux.

Online doesn't work due to anti cheat but story works great

It works just fine, but forget about online - the Battleye anti-cheat will not work or allow you to go online in this way

Run the game from the "Heroic" games launcher and use the fix here: https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launcher/HeroicGamesLauncher/wiki/Rockstar-Games-from-Epic-Games
the game will run perfectly, as I mentioned, without the online option
