Great game to play on the Deck, set the graphic settings to medium, lower the TDP to 8 and set fps limit to 30 or 40. Good battery life.
TDP lowered to 8
Crackling audio after resuming sleep mode.
Some slowdowns during some dungeons and open world sections of the game.
The Steam Deck remains as the perfect platform for playing the Utawarerumono series, 100% recommended.
Works flawlessly. Enough said.
Changed the framerate down to 30 FPS, works very well.
You can keep FPS at 60 but I drop it at 30 but either way the game works like a charm right out of the box!
Completed a full playthrough, with most of the time spent on Steam Deck. Only dipped from a locked 720p30 in one dungeon; otherwise perfect.

Limit FPS to 30 and use medium graphics
The input key to fast-forward dialogue doesn't seem to be mapped for controllers
With the recent game update, in-game movies are able to play properly with the latest stable version of Proton (7.0-4) so Proton-GE should no longer be required
Only real frustrating part is the aforementioned required cutscene skip and needing to run the game at 1080p at startup...
gamescope -w 1920 -h 1080 -W 3840 -H 2160 -i -- %command%
Experienced some crashes after some boss fights. There is one boss fight with a giant skeleton where there is a repeatable crash on the 3rd cutscene after victory. Solution is to skip that cutscene.
Crashes on the opening movie when the resolution is higher than 1080p
gamescope -w 1920 -h 1080 -W 3840 -H 2160 -i -- %command%
Game crashes when at 4K. Needed to use gamescope to make it 1920x1080
No video playback issues or controller (ds4) issues during my ~7 hour play. Stable 720p 30fps.

Not a big issue that most players won't even notice: texts are easy to read, but for some reasons, in the text box, last two rows are very slightly blurry.
Fullscreen is affecting performance. Switching to windowed in settings will provide a better experience.
Some reports were saying movies didn't play without Proton-GE, but it actually worked fine for me even with standard Proton. After some hours, the game is running great on the Deck. Just be careful about performance in Fullscreen, from my current playthrough, I'm definitely earning some fps by going windowed.
30 FPS Cap
Steam Deck continues to be the perfect Utawarerumono handheld
Running at same internal Game settings as Laptop, incl. Fullscreen and Grphics quality High. Appears to be running smoothly and well. Had no need to go through Desktop mode.
Crashes on videos if resolution is higher than 1080p
Requires GE-Proton due to Windows Media Foundation
