I know there's the "Native" version available via a Beta but with this fix I'm actually able to use a controller.
In the terminal type the following protontricks 1930 -q d3dx9 xact or install those same components via the GUI.
No title screen music or any sound during the game.
Horizon will turn into a rave after about 10-15 minutes of playtime.
Installed the following dlls with protontricks (not sure which are necessary):
Amstream d3dcompiler _43 d3dcompiler _47 D3dx9 Directplay Dmusic Dmusic32dxvk Qasf Qcap Qdvd Qedit Quartz Xact
In protontricks regedit: Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Reality Pump\TwoWorlds\Interface, then change EnablePad from 0 to 1

Without tinkering the game wouldn't launch. linux beta works flawlessly. With proton game launches wihthout audio and virual artifacts.
Use linux open beta enabled by developer https://steamcommunity.com/app/1930/discussions/0/1743355067084406133/ Branch: linuxbeta Password: TW1LinuxBETA

Enabled the linux beta branch with the code TW1LinuxBETA
Sometimes the game loads to a black screen
Might work better on proton, ive not tested
Screen flashes but game does not launch
game installs, doesnt launch, not even in safe mode or configuration tools
Had to use the linux development beta. Neither the default one or proton worked for me
Native default does not start. Could not get it to work using proton either
Use Open beta testing of updates for Linux. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1930/discussions/0/1743355067084406133/
In according with a report I found on GOG, I was able to get the game working by doing the following:
protontricks 1930 --gui Select Default Wine Prefix Run winecfg Go to the Library tab type in x3daudio1_1 then click add Close winecfg & protontricks gui
In command prompt type protontricks 1930 devenum quartz wmp9 xact
Runs great so far.

Audio fix
Fixed by workaround via protontricks
Flickering, weird colors, etc
Native is broken
Works well enough after the protontricks audio fix, not sure if everyone would have the rave lighting issue or that's just me.
"protontricks 1930 xact" to get audio to work
Fixed with the "protontricks 1930 xact" command
After a while, the screen starts to look like a rave. Only happens on certain or distant textures at first but eventually covers the whole screen. Reloading the save/returning to the main menu then going back seemed to fix it.
Native version won't even launch
Having no sounds kinda makes the game pointless
No Sounds

Native borked, GE 5.21 Proton does not work
Would not even launch in linux native. Glorious Eggroll launched to a splash screen that immediately closed and left my main monitor stuck at a 4:3 scale low resolution(probably game's native resolution)
No sound, which is an integral part of the gaming experience.
No sound whatsoever.

WINEPREFIX=~/.steam/steam/SteamApps/compatdata/1930/pfx/ winetricks xact
No Audio, tried 3 different proton versions and winetricks.
"Native" version is completely broken (missing executables), with proton the game runs without audio. Doing "protontricks 1930 xact" fixed that.

Game did not run "nativity" as advertised but does run through proton, however it does not have sound.
