Works really well, but stick to the DX12 renderer!
This is a stunningly beautiful game, and I was able to run it at a fairly consistent 100fps on a mix of high and epic settings at a 3440x1440 resolution. However, make sure to stick to the DX12 renderer, as performance and GPU usage was much worse on the DX11 version. Aside from the weak DX11 performance, this was pretty much a flawless experience for me.

Runs great

Launching with normal proton (experimental & non-experimental) doesn't run the application correctly.

DX11 Performance is terrible. Its still really taxing on the hardware, even on DX12
In 5h of playtime, crashed once (DX12)

Proton 7 is the one that works for me, 8 didn't work and Experimental didn't work.
After I added the startup comand -DX12 the stuttering stopped completly and the game works smoothly even on ultra
-DX12
Stuttering almost all the time and extremely low fps, especially when driving or using the binoculars/ rifle scope
At first it was unplayable. After I made it work and could actually play it, it's a great hunting game. Nonetheless, I am a little disappointed that the game has these bugs and optimization problems. If I didn't have the patience to read about possible fixes on steam, would probably have just uninstalled it imeddiately.
Works great out of the box.
Great performance even with default Proton from Steam. Experience gets enhanced even further with current GE-Proton updates.

Run very well on Steam Deck. Set graphics to medium and tdp at 10 for a 30fps experience ( far enough for this kind of game)
Medium settings and tdp10
Plays at 30 fps on medium, little to no improvement on low settings
grapic to med
Runs Very Well
I think the issue just boil down to the game just released and still needs some optimization. Experienced FPS in the mid 20's at least half of my multiplayer session.
Other than the game still needing some optimization here and there for Multiplayer, the game ran perfect. I have not experienced any bugs in my decent time of playing thus far.
Limited TDP a bit
Best hunting game of all time, great realism, a challenge. Playing on 2 differnt saves pc and steam deck, so I can enjoy everything twice. Making 600+m shots on the steam deck is plenty doable. Using R/L 4/5 for item slots.

Plays like on Windows 11. No problems with Manjaro Linux here.
Absolutely. Anyone seeking an authentic hunting experience will be pleasantly surprised as to the solid hunting expeirience provided by WotH
The gameplay experience was indestinguishable from that of windows. Bugs reported in multiplayer are not caused by playing on Linux; and are shared universally. Developers are addressing the MP bugs and will patch soon.
Way of the Hunter is a fantastic, authentic hunting experience. It cannot be compared to any other Hunting game on the market. It stands alone with it's own identity; and truly tests your skills as a hunter. I rate 10/10 after having over 60 hours Linux gametime. I'll be purchasing 2 more copies.
Runs very well. Good performance, no crashes.

Works great on Steam Native client
I had no issues at all running WOTH on the Steam Native client. I technically used Experimental and all went fairly well.
I finished the first few missions required to get multiplayer enabled, but it was still grayed out. I'm not sure exactly why that is considering I didn't have this issue on my Windows partition.
I did try using the Steam Runtime client and it took about two minutes to load beyond the initial black loadup screen. I also had sound issues. I would suggest only running this game in the native client.
The game runs more smoothly on my Garuda partition than it does on my Windows 11 partition. I hope that remains the case as updates are provided.
The Single player experience performs as expected without issue. At this time Multiplayer seems to have some complications.
During Multiplayer we noticed some desync issues; as to be expected on Day 1 release these days. Aside of that, game 100% playable.
Upon testing multiplayer, we experienced some desync issues when driving; the axels of the vehicle would continue traveling while leaving the cap and players (visually) behind.
Multiplayer complications are typical of day 1 releases and I suspect things will be ironed out by the development team in coming weeks.

performance issues seem to be common with this title right now even on Windows so I don't think it's specifically a proton problem.
Didn't work with Proton 7 or experimental had to go to 6.3. Have not had a ton of time to put into it, but wanted to put a report up that it does in fact work in case others are thinking about it.
I found this game launched flawlessly; and I was able to complete the introduction without issue. Will do more extensive testing.
I have long awaited this game; and will report back accordingly. As it stands, out the box I was able to play this game without issue using GE-Proton7-29. Will test with Latest Valve Proton/Experimental for posterity.
