Work with minimal to no troubleshooting, highly recommended
After playing for many hours I've noticed points in the game where audio is not working fully. Example, I was fighting a nightmare and when they shoot their yellow explosive orbs at you the orb impact results in an explosion where there is a noise to follow. There was no noise from the explosion.
If you have two monitors and start the game in fullscreen mode and then want to swap the game to the opposite monitor, you will be unable to click anything inside the game unless the mouse is trying to click on the screen you moved the game from. You can workaround this by switching the game to borderless window and moving the game to the opposite monitor after it finishes loading.
I've been playing for 4+ hours in Linux with the latest Proton version (5?) When I got to the arboretum there was a section where I was surrounded by dense plants and I killed a mimic, then I got a pop up saying Prey.exe has stopped working with this error message:
'Attempt to write data to address 0x00000000000000 The memory could not be "written"'
Idk if this is a Steam Proton issue, but I have the Mooncrash DLC and for some reason it still prompts me to buy it when I load up Prey single player (in the main menu). I remember in Windows if Mooncrash is detected it will instead be an option that says 'Play Mooncrash'
Single player works out of the box. Multiplayer does not work! I attempted joining a game with my friend who is playing on Windows. See https://old.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1et9tbx/anyone_get_sins_of_a_solar_empire_ii_multiplayer/
I see a dialog that shows the processor-architecture doesn't match the Windows user who created the game.
I can't figure out how to attempt to spoof the processor-architecture string to allow me to join my friend's game. I suspect if I were to play Multiplayer with another person who is playing through Linux / Proton it would work.
So I read the older reports from folks that got access to this game when it was a demo before release and they didn't look too great. This lead me to only try the game with Proton Expiramental and it works flawlessly on my desktop and Steam Deck.
