Flawless
I had very low latency (if any), no problems with nothing. I also turned off vsync and didn't really see any tearing.
Works as intended
Perfect
I could play with friends via the ingame code system, we didn't try with steam invitations. Very smooth fps-wise. No lag when playing at high graphics
My setup is extremly bad, so I used the same performance tricks one can use on windows (Changed flags on options.ini)
Worked with proton experimental, 7.0-x, GE-7.28, and GE-7.30. The game has a native linux build up to Afterbirth+, to play with the Repentance dlc you have to use Proton.
Mods work as expected, I use around 20 mods with no issues.
On GNOME the game "Stops Responding" when opening, but if you wait it starts just fine.
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Deleted all DLLs in the root directory except "steam-api.dll" as stated in other reports.
The spellcard counter appears missaligned.
To use my 360 controller I had to set the controller option to none and map the controller with steam. This is not a proton error, as I have the same problem in windows.
protontricks 1031480 gdiplus
With the last update the game crashed for me at the start of a bossfight, similar to the first game. Installing gdiplus with protontricks fixes the issue.
LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8 %command%
You may need to install chinese fonts and/or locale on your system.
Used flag options just in case, as described in a steam discussion of the game (https://steamcommunity.com/app/915130/discussions/0/3097886855338527910/), where the user recommended Proton 4.11.13 and launching steam with chinese locale.
I only tested with GE-Proton 7.28
I played until stage 5 and the game ran without any problem
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Delete all DLLs in the root directory except "steam-api.dll", and use the launch option.
My old report is wrong (I only tested a little of the extra stage), game crashes when you get to a boss.
Game crashes when you get to first boss
protontricks 882710 gdiplus
Without protontricks, the game crashes at the start of a boss fight.
I also installed dotnet20 with protontricks, but I don't think it's needed.
Tested only with proton 7.0-4.
At the moment of writing, I played until stage 5 on normal and I didn't notice any lag or graphical glitches.
As stated in this article of GamingOnLinux, there's a fix for the boss crash in the new Proton 9.0 Beta, hopefully there's no regression later on, so it just works.
Without Proton 9 you have to use the following workaround:
protontricks 882710 gdiplus
PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%
Used D3D because my GPU doesn't support vulkan. Had slight slowdowns while using full rendering, runs well using 1/2 rendering.
