Elden Ring used to work without tinkering, but sometime around November or December 2022 it started crashing for me on launch after the Easy AntiCheat window loads. The crash to desktop is resolved with the launch option AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV %command%
.
With that launch option, the game launches but doesn't connect to multiplayer due to "a frame rate issue". This is resolved by adding the launch option VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0
.
Altogether, with the launch options set as VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 AMD_VULKAN_ICD=RADV %command%
, the game finally opens, connects online, and runs as expected.
Works great, no manual tinkering.
Framerate seems limited to 50 FPS. Not sure if this is a Proton issue or just a limitation of the game (it's really old)
Installs but doesn't launch.
Origin ("OriginThinSetup") tries to do "first time setup" every time I try to launch the game. It appears to finish but the play button turns green again and the game window never appears.
Tried switching Proton to versions Experimental, 7.0-3, 6.3-8, and even Glorious Eggroll 7-24 to no avail. Also tried the launch option to force windowed mode and that didn't work either.
Last time I tried it did not get past Origin client installation, but now setup works fine and the game runs great with no issues so far.
5.1 surround sound did not seem to work
Tiny Origin diagnostic windows sometimes bring themselves to focus during loading screens, but they disappear when you click or alt-tab back to the game. They don't really interrupt gameplay
