[OPEN BETA] DirectX and Windows version cause issues.
Every launch begins with the game complaining that the detected Windows version (build 18363 as of writing) is lower than the recommended build (19041). If you close this dialog it will continue to load to a screen with the options to play or exit (no settings). Pressing space to continue causes the game to eventually crash with a dialog box I can't view, as the game will not respond to alt+enter at any point to enter windowed mode and allow me to alt-tab away. It runs in Borderless Window mode which my system has issues with in WINE as I cannot alt-tab from it properly.
You can get into the menus now.
DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER" %command%
The 3D portion of the menus will be broken with some portions of the car models being transparent through the car drawing the background, or full black. If you navigate to start a race, the only elements visible are the 2D HUD elements, the rest of the screen is full black. PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1
doesn't fix the issue. Game booting appears to be a change made in Proton 9 as no GE build of 8 would get past the game failing to find a D3D11 capable adaptor
If your game crashes when setting the resolution higher than 1440p, it's DXVK.
Any resolution beyond 2560x1440 crashed the game because of a DXVK DLL error, but the game doesn't provide a dialogue box to tell you that.
Not sure if DXVK issue is localised to my system, but it also happens with Titanfall 2 in Lutris, which is how I figured out what the issue was. Using PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 prevents the EA Desktop from passing login so I'm stuck running it lower than native res so the game doesn't crash.
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dxgi=n" %command%
Override WINE DXGI with the DXVK version using DLL override and it runs fine in 4K without crashing.
Game runs fine, launch RACE 07 and not any of the DLC theme shortcuts from the library.
All DLC for RACE 07 is properly detected when installed, albeit using the menu themes by launching any of the DLCs from the library is broken. I haven't had time to try multiplayer with other people yet, but when it comes to multiplayer, RACE 07 only detects the first network adaptor it finds so you'll need to find a way to force ex. ZeroTier to be the one it finds first, or be the host. Windows clients can detect a Linux host with no additional changes on the Linux end if the clients all have their network adaptor priority changed.
