On Fedora 40 the only issue with the game is caused by ibus versions prior to 1.5.31
ibus often causes my character to continue moving on their own after I've stopped inputting movement commands. Running killall ibus-daemon
in a terminal fixes the issue.
Sometimes the game starts in windowed mode.
The game seems to be ignoring some Steam Controller settings. That's probably not caused by Proton.

If using KDE Plasma (I'm using v5.20.3) you may experience an issue where the compositor is not disabled automatically in windowed / borderless mode causing a performance drop. This KWin rule fixes the problem: https://gist.github.com/JagdCake/1877490614f7bb180a61f184d1a37c25

Had to add "-windowed" to the game's launch options to get it to launch.
~6-7 FPS in Halo 2: Anniversary; issue seems to be related to KWin and turning the compositor off fixes it sometimes but very rarely. Had a similar problem with Halo: Reach which was easily fixed by disabling the compositor (Alt+Shift+F12). Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary ran fine with the compositor disabled.
The game freezes randomly when using Proton Experimental and GE-Proton8-1. With GE-Proton7-38 there is no freezing.

I've set the display mode to fullscreen, but the game always starts in "borderless window" mode.
I had the same freezing issue in both RE 2 and 3, but it occured much less often. In Village, it made the Mercenaries mode unplayable. Note that I also updated packages on the same day I switched to GE-Proton7-38: here is the update list https://pastebin.com/Xej7WKWL.
