No issues past some minor stuttering at the start of the first match. Update punkbuster for multiplayer!
Used to install updated PunkBuster version for online play.
No issues as far as I can tell. Just make sure you update PunkBuster!
I used proton-tricks via flatpak to update PB. I ran it as an application within the prefix and it installed and worked without any further tinkering. I imagine the campaign would work fine without the update but you should update regardless as older PB versions have security vulnerabilities.
With the right fixes, it's as good as the windows version (which also needs fixes anyway)
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" gamescope -w 2560 -h 1440 -W 2560 -H 1440 -f --force-grab-cursor -- %command% -nomemrestrict -norestrictions -availablevidmem 12288
Forced W10, installed d3dx9_43 as per FusionFix suggestion
Mouse would not lock to game (fullscreened)
Bit of a pain this one. Had issues with RGSC just giving up since I'm having to use gamescope to force the mouse cursor lock. Eventually, the right combination of things got this working. I would say try to get this working without any fixes first and then go from there with this game.
FusionFix is a must, it adds lots of nice stuff. The most important being an engine frame limit which you WILL need to play the game through (last mission is bugged if you're at 30+fps).

My launch options also unlimit the VRAM to match my GPU's VRAM capacity which has been an issue on this game for over a decade! (on Windows too)
I would heavily reccomend setting your resolution, FPS limit, and mouse sensitivity in the ini files under the System folder of the game.
This game is subject to random crashes on Windows as well. Mainly when on the lobby screen.
The native port just does not work well AT ALL. Avoid. Also be sure to disable dynamic lighting as this can easily tank the game down to 20fps when there's a flamethrower. Same stuff as on windows mostly.
-novid -nojoy -nosteamcontroller -nohltv -particles 1 -precachefontchars +exec autoexec.cfg
Graphics configs are a must for either high FPS or high fidelity. I use mastercomfig "High" with mat_picmip -10
and some spray enable commands
Works as well as it does on Windows.
Improved default hud is also a nice addition. Sprays are easiest to make on this website: https://rafradek.github.io/Mishcatt/
