Run:
flatpak install com.github.Matoking.protontricks
flatpak run com.github.Matoking.protontricks 321960 --gui
and select install app -> ubisoft connect
(it's no longer called uplay and trying to install uplay just broke my prefix, but this method works)

I tried different proton versions, different AMD drivers, installing through Lutris with Steam for Windows and with Ubisoft Connect, backing up the game from a device where it works, every launch option I could think of. Nothing worked.

Works fine on my old Nvidia laptop, looks like an AMD specific problem.

This is usually fixed by running the game in single core, but I can't find a way to do that with steam games.
