Game works perfectly out of box. I played for 6 hours and beat the game, no problems.
Game Breaking Bug 3 Hours in, Stuck in Room, TV Never Turns On.
Depending on which Proton version you use, there could be severe performance drops (as low as 15 fps).
Game breaking bug about 3 hours into the game. There is a TV screen in a room you drop into. It is supposed to talk to you and then open a door, but the audio never triggers and you are effectively stuck in the room. There is no problem on Windows (which I used to pass this part) but I noticed other similar trigger bugs like enemies not coming to life and just standing still when they were supposed to attack.
Game itself basically works 100%. Good performance and no glitches.
Everything was basically perfect except the Xbox controller. It seemed wonky, not sure if that is just the game or a Linux/Proton problem (I've never played it on Windows). The controller is detected, but sensitivity was high and the mappings seemed off. In any case, the mouse/keyboard combo is more suited for this game, and that works fine.
Game is buggy but plays better on Linux than Windows. With the patch you can unlock framerate (I played at 160Hz) and 21:9 res.
Unknownproject's Patch (Patch2.0_upd3_AiO_pt1.exe) from: https://github.com/unknownproject/Silent_Hill_Homecoming/
Sound effects and voice only come out of right headphone (this is an issue on Windows as well)
Overall Working Well and Performance Was Good. Hangs on Exit.
Game will hang on exit and must be force closed.
Had to Manually Select Proton 5 in Steam Settings for the Game.
Game Installs and Opens, But Screen is Cropped and Game Buttons Don't Work
I can launch the game, and get to the title screen but it only displays on 70% of the monitor, and some of the buttons didn't seem to work correctly. I could not find any launch parameters for this game and looking at the config files didn't turn up anything obvious. Maybe it could work in windowed mode or if you could set the resolution, I couldn't get that far or see any options.
Proton-6.16-GE-1 GloriousEggroll
Proton-6.16-GE-1
You can beat this game in about 2 hours or less but it is an amazing and scary experience. For a budget indie title, the graphics are great and seemed to run very fast on my machine (in-game FPS is locked to 120 max). You need Glorious Eggroll otherwise the video files and other media don't work and you won't be able to get past the title screen. No glitches or problems at all.
Hangs on Black Screen When Launched
Watch Dogs 2 does install okay in Steam, but when launching the game through Proton it just hangs on a black screen. You'll have to force close from the system monitor. Interestingly, I was able to get the game running in Lutris, and performance is very good and the game seemed to work 100%, I did not notice any glitches or missing features. I hope it can work in Proton soon as well.
