Applied the movie fix for standard RE6 and got to the main menu. Had to lower resolution to 1280x720 in order to prevent "Fatal error. ERR08 : out of video memory." Works fine at 1920x1200 on Windows. Couldn't figure out how to do the tweaks or they didn't work (the guide is not very helpful, needs step-by-step screenshots... I'm not really sure if i did them right).
I got the Collector's CD version of game to work by using DOSBox directly. I also utilized a MIDI synth (fluidsynth) to improve the quality of the music. Full instructions are here (tested on Ubuntu and Debian):

Here are some useful DOSBox key combos:
Alt-Enter: Toggle fullscreen
Ctrl-F10: Release mouse pointer from DOSBox
Alt-Pause: Pause DOSBox emulation
