Game doesn't run very well on low settings, but it is playable. I think the framerate is the problem. Runs better on my Windows 10 partition on the same settings.
When trying to load into new levels, the game would either crash or cause my computer to freeze. Also experienced one near freeze (game recovered and I could quit normally) and one total freeze during regular gameplay. Seems like the game can start a run/load into a save just fine and maybe get to the next level, but after that, it'll probably freeze or crash on the next level change.
Tested the game on my Windows partition to see if the problem was related to my hardware, but it runs fine on Windows.
Tried Proton 8.0.4, but it seems like GE works better.
Game is Steamdeck verified; so this might just be an issue with my old hardware and/or Mint not playing nice.
Works well. Most of my time is from playing on Windows, but Linux has been working fine.
Works well on current experimental version (as of writing). Almost all of my time on this game is from playing on Windows but didn't notice a difference playing on Linux (outside of the mouse feeling weird, but that's not related to the game).
No problem with controller. No problem with mouse and keyboard using Proton. Using mouse and keyboard with just Steam Play(?) resulted in an issue where using the mouse to drag objects did not work, making the game unplayable with that control scheme.
Adventure mode doesn't work, Challenge mode does
The game freezes trying to load up Adventure mode, but Challenge mode does seem to work. Tried on the recommended version, 4.11-13, and 4.2-9, but unlike that one report, Adventure mode didn't work. If anyone is interested in this game, it is fun, but the meat of the game is in Adventure mode.
The game is fully playable now! I don't know what changed between GE-Proton versions, but I guess they added whatever obscure call was preventing the game from loading Adventure Mode. Very happy about this.
Game works
I did run into a very minor bug where going fullscreen from full window mode would result in black bars appearing at the top and bottom of the screen. The game did not adjust the resolution from 1600x822 back to 1600x900. However, you can just change the resolution back to what it should be and everything's fine. Don't know if this is a Linux problem or an issue the game has with certain screen sizes.
Game Works
I ran into an issue once where the Dpad was sending weird inputs during a minigame, but I think it's either a game problem or a controller problem. I've been having stick issues while playing on both Windows and Linux; it's likely related to that.
