As mentioned you must use the "WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=3:0,1,2 %command%" launch option if you have too many cores. The game plays perfectly fine with that option.

Only at times the audio went out on me but this not so often and it could be related to using a Audio Receiver
Not so frequent stutter
I've got this game to work. I've tested using Proton and I found I did have a tad bit of stutters. I then went to GE-Proton9-25 and found there were a lot less slow downs and was perfectly playable. I recommend however to enable vsync as I found without it the game had some issues. You may also have to change from low to ultra whatever is suitable for your machine. So it may or may not work for you. At least for me I have vsync enabled and its on Ultra and as said very little issues with stuttering and I wouldn't even say it bothers me. How I have this setup I feel is perfect and should run well for others. Not all machines may have the U3 Fatal Error issue but mine did so I had to resort to the launch code I'm using. If you have an issue when you load the game in a level and there's major stuttering, i recommend exiting the level and entering again. This may solve your issue, have fun!
Will Not Run
I've tried different Protons from experimental to 9.0-4, 8.0-5 and 5.13-6. I've also tried GE-Proton9-25 and GE-Proton8-20. When starting the game a small black screen starts (logo i think) and then instantly crashes right after that. I didn't try any launch options and not quite sure what would fix it.
I really enjoyed playing this game on Windows and to me it's an instant hit so being able to play this on Linux is just simply amazing.

I did notice there was slow downs but it could be normal. Might be capped framerate even if the game has options to change it. Might differ to others though.
Game needs to run with the following command WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=3:0,1,2 %command% and as far as I know may work with the latest versions of Proton as well as GE Proton.
Again you need to run with WINE_CPU_TOPOLOGY=3:0,1,2 %command% as the game needs a lower core count and should run with the latest versions of Proton as well as GE Proton. So give them a try and have fun playing the game :).
