The constant flashing really makes the game an absolute pain to play. It's seizure inducing.
Settings set to low, 100% resolution, 40hz refesh rate
The floor will flash heavily almost constantly with only some rare breaks in between. This happens in all proton versions and after a while it ends up straining your sight.
If using either Proton GE or Proton 7, the game will carsh seemingly at random
Here are some performance tips: If you play the game with the graphical settings that are set when installed, you will get about 20fps lows, 30fps highs, 24~fps average. Not really good at all.
If you want a good midway point between looks and gameplay, I recommend setting to low, changing the in-game fps to 60, and keeping the resolution scaling at 100% while limiting your fps to 40. It'll mostly stay locked at 40 and it won't look too bad.
If you want pure performance, low settings at 75% resolution scaling will get you 60fps but the average is more like 50 and there are constant frame drops. Setting the resolution scaling to 50% makes the 60fps more stable but at that point the game doesn't look good at all.
I don't recommend you to play at 30fps at all due to the fast pace of the game, instead try to aim for 40 at least.
Trying to launch this with the default steam proton version gives a black screen, HOWEVER, the new Proton 8.0 makes this game work with Proton Experimental perfectly! I've found no bugs, controls works fine, it runs at a locked 60fps on the default setting of high, and it is on 16:10 by default. It's just great!
