Alt-Tab sometimes slowed down my game significantly
- Set DayZ to Proton Experimental.
- Run "sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=1048576" before launching DayZ at all.
- Get the launcher from https://github.com/bastimeyer/dayz-linux-cli-launcher
- Right-click on the unpacked dayz-launcher.sh and allow it to be executed.
- Go into the folder where you unpacked the script with a console. Replace the uppercase stuff and run "./dayz-launcher.sh --server SERVERIPADDRESS:SERVERPORT --port QUERYPORT --launch --name STEAMUSERNAME" to launch the game onto your preferred server.
It's possible that you have some missing dependencies when you first run the script, but they should be easily found across the web. If it does not work then reboot and try again.
It might also complain about a missing Steam folder. In my case, I installed the game on a different HDD. Edit the dayz-launcher.sh and set the STEAM_ROOT variable near the top of the script, between the other variables. In my case, it was "STEAM_ROOT=/diskName/yourPath/SteamLibrary".
Finally, the script complained about a missing workshop folder. I just tried adding something small and random from the DayZ Workshop to have that folder created. You can also create a folder "221100" under "/diskName/yourPath/SteamLibrary/steamapps/workshop/content/". I also rebooted my PC and tried it again, then it worked.
Excellent game, beautiful graphics, great framerate and no issues at all.
No true multiplayer in this game. Shared missions worked fine though.
Game sometimes becomes slow motion. This didn't happen with older Mesa drivers.
Game crashed 2 times in the past 10 hours of gameplay. Didn't happen with old Mesa driver + Proton Experimental
No true multiplayer in the game. Link missions work fine.
Depends on video card + driver of video card. Appears that an update to Mesa drivers broke the game on Proton Experimental for me. Works almost flawless on GE-29. Didn't work on GE-37 and stopped working on all other Proton versions.
For some reason it crashed on 1st startup but had no problems after launching it again. Works perfectly in both Experimental and GE-7-29.
Excellent game with only a strange full-screen bug that won't happen when you don't touch the setting or reboot after it gets botched.
Toggle between full-screen > windowed > maximizing the window > full-screen makes fullscreen not fully full.
Works fine with GE-Proton7-29, but only on DirectX 11 (which you can choose when you start up the game in Steam)
No cinematics on Proton Experimental and hangs on older versions of Proton.
