To optimize battery performance I capped the Steam Deck to 40hz and the game to 40fps. This game plays fine at 30fps as well but 40fps just feels a bit better. I play it at 60fps while at home but 40fps on the go to gain a little extra life out of it. I also keep the graphics settings maxed out at native resolution (1280x720).
It doesn't do it every time but on occasion if you suspend the game and then bring the Steam Deck out of sleep, the audio will start to get choppy. But it's easliy fixed by quitting and relaunching the game.
In towns, battles and cinematics the game holds a steady 60fps on max settings/native resolution. However, in the "open world" areas the game can, and does, drop into the 40s quite regularly.
I am over 60 hours in and have played mostly on my Steam Deck. Mainly since the game does not feature cloud sync (why Square Enix? Why?) and in order to continue my game on my PC I have to move my game saves through Google Drive. I have not beat the game yet but everything I have experienced so far is amazing!
