EAC loads fine now :) But no servers can be reached :(
The game starts fine with Proton experimental and 7.0-6, EAC loads OK, but trying to play a game tells me that "some regions are blocked due to network problems". Actually all regions are blocked and the region selection page doesn't show a ping for any. I can see with tcpdump that the game is sending out a load of requests to different servers, but never getting a reply. I made sure my firewall was accepting all incoming and outgoing connections. Tested in Windows and it worked fine there so I know it's not a networking problem, just something to do with Slackware and steam (beta and stable clients)
Needed to add my users group id (100) to the Linux ping_group_range:
# echo "0 100" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ping_group_range
After that multiplayer works fine. Without it, no servers can be found.
Runs OK in local play mode but sometimes with sluggish performance at medium quality graphics settings. Multiplayer doesn't work at all because easy anti cheat is not working.
Exits with terminate called after throwing an instance of 'dxvk::DxvkError'
Tried Proton 7.0-5, Experimental and GE 7-47 but the game won't start, always exits with terminate called after throwing an instance of 'dxvk::DxvkError' even with a fresh prefix.
At first I thought it could be a problem with my vulkan install but everything else works in Proton OK, just not sandstorm.
Game starts OK after installing 32 bit libraries, but EAC startup gives unexpected error
EAC broken, kicked from multiplayer
Kicked because of EAC
I finally found out that this game requires 32 bit libraries to run which is why I couldn't get it started before but other things were fine. It won't start with EAC so I needed to copy Insurgency.exe over the top of InsurgencyEAC.exe to get it to start. Game runs very well and I am able to join multiplayer games but get kicked after a few minutes because of EAC timeout. EAC still works fine with fall guys so I assume this is an insurgency specific EAC problem which might be fixed again in the future.
Works perfectly, but after a few hours the mouse input does get a bit laggy. This could be something to do with alt tabbing/switching desktops or the steam overlay though.
There is too much work to do to be able to get the game to launch, but once you do get it going it works well.

Ran the game by setting the steam launcher option PROTON_DUMP_DEBUG_COMMANDS=1 and let it crash. Then edited the created /tmp/proton_user/run file to remove Mafia2Launcher from the cd command and changed DEF_CMD to run pc/Mafia II Definitive Edition.exe instead of the Launcher exe.
I was playing it on the steam link so that would have added a bit of controller lag too.
After editing the run file I was able to run the game from the terminal. But to be able to launch it from steam and use the overlay / in home streaming I had to copy the edited run file from /tmp/proton_user over the Launcher.exe in the Mafia2Launcher directory as mentioned by another user.
Sometimes the cutscenes don't work, showing just a black screen or freezing the last game frame until the cutscene ends - the audio still plays though. This is a pretty big problem when you are playing a story game, especially when it happens on one of the long cutscenes
Unexpected Error on the EAC screen
Tested with Proton Experimental (normal and beta), Proton 7.0-3, and Proton 6.3-8. The EAC Launcher gets up to 100% then says "Launch Error Unexpected Error.(#1)". Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime is installed, and Fall guys still works OK.
uplay updates and then starts. I login with my uplay details, get asked for 2fa code, then after a while get the message "A Ubisoft service is currently unavailable". Offline mode can't be used because you need to successfully login at least once for offline mode to be available. Game won't start without uplay.
Game starts, music plays, but I can't click anything on the main menu.
Tested with experimental and proton 7.0 and get the same problem with both. I can move the mouse around over the menu items. The menu reacts to the mouse moving over the items, but clicking does nothing.
I just connected my controller and that seems to work OK. Also ALT+F4 and ALT+ENTER keys are recognised - so it just seems to be mouse clicks that aren't working.
Worked perfectly after the update today. It looks like a previous update had broken the mouse clicks, but now they fixed it again.
Game usually crashes just after showing the company logos at the start, it did seem to get to the main menu once though but with a blank screen and only background sounds playing.
Seems to need noesync to fix the crash/freeze before showing the main menu. Other than that the game runs very well with high graphics setting and exclusive fullscreen. It does show a warning that no graphics adapter is installed at startup but that can be ignored. Seems to run much smoother in proton 3.16-8 than in 3.7-8
Seems to need noesync to fix the crash/freeze before showing the main menu. The game does get laggy after about 20 minutes of playing though and needs restarting to fix it. Other than that the game runs very well with high graphics setting and exclusive fullscreen. Steam controller works fine. It does show a warning that no graphics adapter is installed at startup but that can be ignored. I have tried using the Wine D3D11 tweak like others suggested but for me that just makes the whole game so slow it is unplayable.
With proton 4.2 I was able to run the game without any tweaks, but I did have to increase the hard nofile limit as described at https://github.com/zfigura/wine/blob/esync/README.esync .
I was playing with a steam controller and the performance was good most of the time but the input would occasionally feel laggy, especially on the last fight which I ended up using the keyboard and mouse for.
Also after every death and reload from checkpoint the game performance would decrease. After about 4 death's the fps would be so low it was unplayable so I would have to quit and restart the whole game. This was the only really annoying problem for me.
