I've set max_map_count (sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=1048576) to avoid having a black screen (in desktop mode using Konsole, then switched back to gaming mode; if you use sudo for the first time, set a password first using passwd).

The launcher starts, but gives an error. You can ignore the error, but it will not show subscribed mods and also not list servers.

You can start the client directly (you can pick when clicking Play in the gaming mode) and this works, but without mods I couldn't connect to my favorite server, so I didn't try much more.

Also controls are a bit annoying in the menu, but workable.
