When started the game complained about a missing ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Aircar/Aircar/Config/SteamVRBindings/steamvr_manifest.json file. My install (from 2013) of steam had the folder ~/.local/share/SteamApps but not ~/.local/share/steamapps. So I just made a "ln -s SteamApps ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps" and everything worked.

Ran fine with my HTC Vive, however, note that the game as such still needs a lot of polish, but that is unrelated to running on Linux.
