After launching the window would open and immediately close. Found the following instructions from a dev on the DadQuest general discussion tab:

• Locate Dad quest right click and go to properties
• go to the Betas tab and then enter the code updatetesting
• Click on check code and then opt into the updatetesting beta

Works perfectly after.
