In-game performance is fine. Assuming CCP can stop tinkering with files that require manual fixes from the community, Proton runs great.

Took me 3x re-installations however.
1st Install (pre-existing)
Launcher ran but game would not. Copied "launchdarkly_client.pyd" file & marked Read Only per above. Launcher now refused to open.
2nd Install
Launcher opens again but now upon launching game receive "Missing exefile.exe" error. Found a post in aforementioned thread with same error, they were unable to locate the file. Confirmed on my end their findings as well - nearly all of the previous files in this SharedCache folder were no longer here.
3rd Install
This worked, no further changes needed.
Noting, as soon as game installed this time I checked the SharedCache folder contents. Files were present again. Copied them all off to a separate location in case they were needed/ were 'wiped' after launching the game.
Thus far have not experienced issues in-game. Tested rebooting & relaunching game as well.
Should be noted if you are using Flatpak Steam installations, be aware of its install location in your ~/.var/app/ directory. Most online posts mentioning where to edit the local Steam install files, do not mention that these locations differ if you are a Flatpak user and this can trip you up.

Check this thread, as others have pointed out: https://forums.eveonline.com/t/client-start-exception-after-today-update-steam-solved/332253/67
Had to copy launchdarkly_client.pyd & set read-only. 2x more re-installs after this due to the "Missing exefile.exe" issue, also referenced in my post on aforementioned topic.
Game itself runs fine, it's the launcher & CCP's continuous changing of the files that is breaking things. Unfortunately as of now this still requires manual file-adjustment which is a bit above & beyond normal user patience levels, especially when it requires sifting through a Forum thread for others' assistance.
Caveat being multiboxing is not an option, requires further tinkering to determine if possible and what additional configurations are needed
Could not multibox (load more than 1 EVE client) whatsoever, PC hard freezes as if it ran out of memory. Did not look into limiting EVE clients to set amount of RAM per client.
As of this report, Proton 7 is needed to load the launcher however based on others' reports this Proton version can vary, so would try a few if issues, especially if recent update came out
Set Proton Experimental, no other changes needed - game launched & could load into multiplayer game without issue. FWIW it also grabbed my keybinds from Windows install, very nice QoL
