Works out of the box with Proton 8.0-5
Just being in the starting house I was around 88 to 95 FPS, which seems kind of low given my setup
So far, no issues running the game. I'll probably try a few different proton versions to see if the performance increases a bit and update here if I find anything significant.
The first cutscene of the game seemed out of sync, but every cutscene after that was fine.
I used Proton Experimental right off the bat and had no issues. I'm running on an average of 60 FPS at about medium settings, which is pretty great considering how much people complained about optimization. So far, I've only seen frame drops while transitioning from cutscenes to gameplay or vice-versa.
I've noticed a few visual glitches, but it's not consistent enough to bother me, they aren't game breaking. I've played almost 7 hours so far and have seen maybe 2 things that looked out of the ordinary graphics-wise.
Online play was good. I'm surprised I didn't run into any hackers. Mostly everyone was friendly. One random guy blasted my head off when I was afk but that was it.
I tried the latest 3 proton versions listed in Steam which includes experimental. It wouldn't even load to the menu. With the GE Proton though, I got an average fps of 122, with a peak of 143, a low of around 102. I did set all my graphics settings to Ultra, but that made my fps peak at 22 and had an average of 16fps.. I haven't installed this game on my windows partition so I don't know how it compares, but with the default graphics settings, it's as smooth as butter in Linux so I don't think I'll even test it in windows.
If you alt-tab out when fullscreen is on, the taskbar stays in front.
I tried the top 4 proton versions in Steam and that didn't work, so I started installing a few GE protons. I tried Proton-6.9-GE-2, GE-Proton7-41 and GE-Proton7-14. None of those worked for me, except Proton-7.3-GE-1.. I also have a laptop with an Intel CPU and Nvidia GPU and it worked fine on the latest Steam Play proton just fine.
