The game runs okay in the first area, but when you enter the city or a more complex room, the performance tanks and the Deck barely manages 15-20 fps. The camera rotation speed is tied to fps, which is very annoying. It's okay at around 40 fps in open world.
In game menu, for Ship controls, used the Optional layout, which makes LS move the ship forward, and right trigger shoot. Also inverted the Y axis for Ship in the same menu.
Cutscenes don't play on the default Proton version. Some loading screens have artifacts, but that doesn't affect anything. Use GE-Proton8-6 to fix cutscenes.
150-280 fps at 1280x800. When capped to 60 fps, Deck's battery lasts around 4 hours.
Use 30 fps. It makes Spyro jump noticeably higher/further and doesn't softlock you in levels tied to framerate (e.g. wizards don't open doors at 60 fps). At that framerate you can set graphics to high or ultra on the Deck.
The Flight levels use inverted vertical controls and there's no built-in way to un-invert them. Had to create a new action set used just for the Flight levels, where Left Stick has vertical invert on.
30 fps helps with battery and prevents softlocks in wizard levels.
If you plan to play offline occasionally, disable cloud saves for this game. My offline save was overwritten by a previous online backup and I lost a few hours of progress.
The game crashed twice in one of the starting levels, when approaching a checkpoint. Didn't happen in further levels.
Use Proton 6.3-8 and install lavfilters via Protontricks. This has fixed the cutscenes in the first game for me.
The graphics sub-window has no [X] button to close it, so you need to use [Steam button] -> [Close window] to get rid of it.
Cutscenes' audio is missing unless you do the mentioned tinkering.
