After waiting for a minute or two for the mouse bug to fix itself it runs alright. NBlood seems to be smoother though.
OpenGL does not work. Black screen and artifacts.
Massive stutter on mouse movement if running higher than Proton 4.2.9
Changing some video settings results in crazy mouse spinning.
Black screen and crash on startup!
It's embarrassing that a native flagship Valve title has been broken for almost a year now. You need to download and copy around a shared library file to make it work, it's nothing major but still ironic.
sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=1048576
Audio pops and crackles in certain situations, ambient wind sound / wolves howling.
Works fine after using the terminal command. Audio crackles occasionally, annoying but not a deal breaker. I recommend DZTUI for modded play, otherwise you will have to manually load mods through the launch options for each server. Official works out of the box.
Had to revert to Proton 8.0-5, otherwise the launcher crashes after any button press. Once on downgraded Proton you can disable hardware acceleration and the launcher will stop crashing on Proton Experimental. Tested on two different distros and flatpak/runtime Steam.
I do NOT recommend DZGUI because it requires you to provide a Steam API key, as alternative I opted for 'https://github.com/valters-tomsons/DayZLauncher-UnixPatcher' to fix the original launcher instead.
Most distros require you to run 'sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=1048576' to prevent a crash.
After all this tinkering the game runs as expected, performance seems equal to Windows.
Once you fix the launcher issue and load proper mods, everything is alright.
The game runs perfectly fine on my hardware as expected. No issues and bugs after dealing with the initial startup issue.
The game doesn't start without using the following command, without it you get constant Windows redist installs every time you press play and it doesn't run after.
cd "~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Divinity\ Original\ Sin\ 2/" mv ./bin ./bin.bak && ln -s DefEd/bin bin && cd bin && mv ./SupportTool.exe ./SupportTool.bak && ln -s EoCApp.exe SupportTool.exe
The game runs the same as native and it has the same issues like native: No widescreen support, fps limiter required because of bugs.
Mouse cursor disappears when alt-tabbing or changing workspaces.
gamemoderun %command%
The game freezes on loading screen. Removing Movies folder fixes the issue.
