EA Kernel Anti-cheat became live as of October 2024, making the game unplayable on Linux
EA doesnt understand that a community ran moderation system is better than forcing any anticheat on us, but I guess they really want to pretend they're doing something
Lowering all graphical settings to the lowest (game does not default to it), enable 30FPS mode for World tour
The game is marked as "Verified on deck", which Valve itself said it aims for 30FPS, however, the game expects to be ran at 60 as its logic is based on exact frame timings. If you wish to play regular fighting modes off or online, you need 60FPS. The single-layer "World Tour" mode has the option to tie logic to 30FPS instead, however it is not available to regular modes.
Difficult text to read on main menu (General ManiaPlanet menu) and third party servers UI (which aren't gameplay essential)
A few slowdowns on maps with water/multiplayer servers, both can be tweaked to lower settings in game or in the launcher
Outside of performence, multiplayer ran and played perfectly fine, both to download maps and play on actual servers
Works wonderfully on Linux, the game just has UI problems that holds it back from working out of the box on a Steam Deck. Would recommend as long as aware of the UI needing mouse inputs to go into the game itself. Might need a few tweaks if you want to reach a constant 60 FPS on most maps. 30 FPS is perfectly reachable and perfectly usable for casual play.
Game in untrusted state in both launcher skip and Main Branches
The game does not pass its anti-cheat verification on Linux anymore, despite using multiple methods (GE, Hotfix, Launcher Skip)
