Epic Online Services is a wonderful software and we all love to play with it
Due to problems with Epic Online Services the game is not starting. It say that the files are corrupt. This happens under Windows as well but doesn't seems fixable on Linux. Tried to Update the Online Services with the installer in the game folder and reinstalled Steam and all games to really get a fresh version of EOS.

After using new version of proton-ge it finally worked. I removed the prefix as well due to prior problems with EOS
Had 4 FPS in VAB on lowest settings. Right after launching aroung 8-10 FPS and around 16 in LEO. About half of this on high settings. All 1080p.
The first time experience crashed with Proton Experimental and ProtonGE-49. Without it was "playable". Other Proton versions got stuck while loading the launcher. Also a login to my Private Division account failed after finishing the stuff in the browser. Only worked when I skipped the login directly.
Because this is early access, the issues were expectable. However, I would hope that the devs keep Proton in mind while proceeding with development of this beautiful game.
I'm not familiar with possible launch option so there is quite a good chance that it just works fine.
