game crashed out of the box, forced Proton Experimental and was able to run and play the game
This game is currently in Early Access at the time of writing this
it crashed on proton 8 with an error, 7 loaded but eventually crashed
Works out of-the-box after latest updates
after running the game and seeing new features/improvements, I removed the forced Proton Experimental option and was able to run the game with out issues, some may wish to use the command "gamemoderun %command%" but I had the same result with and without so no tinkering is needed now.
This game had limited options for audio/video, the latest update from today allows to change resolution, disable V-sync, run windowed/borderless/fullscreen, and cap your frame rate. the you can also select your MIC from the menu which should put the default mic issues to rest.
the new update seems to have fixed a lot with the game on proton
probably not a for this section, but when taking a photo, there is a slight frame skip
I was getting the same issue where it was playable but not as fun with every other movement skipping frames taking away from the emmersiveness the game is famous for. Since the update, it seems to have cleared up, the video options were reset but this is likely since they added the following
(from thier update page)
New layer of customization, now giving you the ability to:
- Turn V-Sync on or off.
- Turn reflections on or off
- Turn volumetric lights on or off
- Turn anti aliasing on or off, plus support for FXAA, SMAA and TAA
- Choose between 30, 60, 120, or unlimited FPS. (The game was previously capped at 60 fps.)
the game now runs smoothly for me at the following settings:
- RES: 1920x1080
- Quality: Ultra
- full screen: on
- v-sync: off
- frame rate: (any of them)
- Anti aliasing: TAA with high on Reflections and Volumetric Lighting
