The default launcher is a pain (requires mouse) but apart from that its a wonderful game for the Deck!
I used the in-game menu (press escape or steam + dpad left) to reverse the "confirm" and "cancel" buttons, as they default to the Japanese style.
If you're using the default launcher, you probably want to make one of the trackpads a mouse, but I'd recommend an alternate launcher instead (see below).
A frame skip occasionally appears. Untitled Project X is a mod that solves this for Final Fantasy X, however while it fixed frame issues for X-2, it A) requires a very specific version of proton (7.0-6) to run, and B) caused frequent crashes in X-2. So while it may be helpful for the first game (note that I didn't test this), I DO NOT recommend the mod for X-2!
Note that I'm specifically talking about X-2 here. Older versions of proton seem to have played X fine but wouldn't even launch X-2. Fortunately, it now should run out of the box. As said above, I don't recommend any mods, except one - Use the open source launcher replacement to get controller support in the launcher. Don't used the Boxed version, and just copy over your files with the contents of FINAL FANTASY FFX&FFX-2 HD Remaster/
(ignore the UnX folder that comes packaged). This shouldn't have any other effect on the game, but makes the experience much more smooth.
