If your GPU is good then yes but if it is on the weaker side it depends how you tolerate slow frame rates
Given the requirements for the game, I didn't think it would run on my setup but it did. I was able to run it without tinkering and using Proton Experimental. However even in the lowest settings possible the frame rate was not good. Around 20-30 I would say. So, don't expect it to run smoothly if your gpu is not that powerful like mine.
Doesn't want to run
PYROVEIL=1 PYROVEIL_CONFIG="$HOME/repos/pyroveil/hacks/roadcraft-nvidia-570-stable/pyroveil.json" %command%
Maybe if I had an AMD GPU it would have worked better but I'm not sure. I tried switching Proton versions(experimental, hotfix and 9.0), trying different driver versions(570 and 575) etc. Nothing worked so far. Simply doesn't want to run on Linux+Nvidia it seems
PYROVEIL=1 PYROVEIL_CONFIG="$HOME/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/pyroveil.json" %command%
Install pyroveil properly, especially if you have the flatpak version of steam
I copied the json file to the game directory just to make sure there are no permission issues
Used Proton 9.0.4
RESULTS!!!
The new 2.0 patch made the game unplayable with my setup.
PYROVEIL=1 PYROVEIL_CONFIG="$HOME/path-to-the-pyroveil.json"
I tried running it on different Proton versions GE included, pyroveil on or off. Nothing worked so far. It's probably something related with the new graphical updates (upscaling etc.). I hope somebody will fix it soon.
Installed and ran with pyroveil. Put the pyroveil.json into game folder
The new patch seems to get rid of my saves on the cloud
As I decided to quit this game I saw the pyroveil github repo had a new update called roadcraft hack. After building it again and selecting the Proton 10-1 Beta, the game started running as before.
