Customizations:Protontricks
The only way I could get it to work was installing dotnet40 using system wine instead of proton's version of wine. My system's wine version is 6.23. WINE=$(which wine) protontricks 434570 dotnet40. Launching the game throws errors that can be ignored.

Snake Pass
The game would not boot up initially. I had to change the proton version to 4.11-13, run the game, and then change it back to 5.0-9 to get it to work. Now it works fine.
