There was some update, I think in Oct 2022. The game no longer launches. The same goes for Bioshock 2 (Windows), Bioshock Infinite (Linux).

I ran the native Linux version. You just have to fix the poor texture quality problem and popping effect and then you are good. Initially, loading maps, saving the game was pretty slow for some bizarre reason. Then, it normalized. I used MangoHud to see the FPS I was getting. It get +130 FPS. I played the entire game and finished it. It runs well. I don’t think it crashed once. I recommend turning of Compositor otherwise, the driver will crash sometimes and you get a black screen of death and you are forced to press Reset.
Kubuntu 20.10 Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 24 GB RAM 3200 MHz (nice, I was able to hit 3200 MHz) MSI nVidia GTX 980 4 GB and for god’s sake, please stop writing kiB, MiB, GiB and that none sense. It is kB, MB, GB.
LOW TEXTURE QUALITY UNDER LINUX? In Steam game properties, Set Launch Options as PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Initially, loading maps, saving the game was pretty slow for some bizarre reason. After playing the game a couple of hours or maybe it was because I closed and opened it, it is loading maps fast, and saving quickly. In any case, the game seems to run perfectly and I have been playing for over 10 h.

Initially, loading maps, saving the game was pretty slow for some bizarre reason. Then, it normalized. In any case, the game seems to run perfectly and I have been playing for over 10 h. I used MangoHud to see the FPS I was getting. It fluctuates from 130 to +230 FPS. I played the entire game and finished it. It runs well. I don’t think it crashed once. I recommend turning of Compositor if you are on Kubuntu since this might cause a crash, a black screen of death.

As everyone else says, you can install it from Steam servers
As everyone else says, you can install it from Steam servers but when you press Play, it probably tries to load and then there is a failure. No window shows up. No error message visible. On the same PC, with WIn 7, it works fine. Just give the community the source code for Duke Nukem Forever and we'll make a Linux native version.
The game runs pretty well. Kubuntu 20.04. I tried 45 min of single player and 30 min of multiplayer.
The game runs pretty well. Kubuntu 20.04. I tried 45 min of single player and 30 min of multiplayer. You just need to reduce the mouse sensitivity because the default is too high. I only ran in full screen mode. Vsync is on in the game and it was working. I ran at 1920x1200. The game is modern so it properly recognizes that resolution. I also enabled MangoHud and it was showing 60 FPS.
It runs great!
They added raytracing support in 5.15.0-83-generic, open source drivers. Performance is the same as on Windows. I can even max out settings in Quake 2 RTX native and rendering is fine, althought FPS takes a hit. I don’t know why, but Windows games like Cyberpunk 2077, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition still do not support raytracing (I run them via PROTON). Maybe there is some missing Vulkan extension. Thank you Linux!
