Requires some work to get running, but once it's past the intro cutscene it's smooth sailing to the end
DXVK_CONFIG="dxgi.hideIntelGpu = True" %command%
Upon starting a new game, the intro cutscene will attempt to play: for me, it was stuck on a white screen indefinitely. Holding whatever button will skip the cutscene (for me, "E") will still do so, and I had no issues beyond that point.
I set the game to "Windowed" so I could more easily close it if (when...) problems arose, and it remained borderless fullscreen even after a restart.
Running straight out of the box, and even with some of the modifications suggested in older reports, causes one of two issues for me: either a popup that says that a "D3D11-compatible GPU is required" (mostly on newer versions of Proton) or the beginning splash screen, covered by a popup that says only "Fatal Error" (mostly on older versions of Proton). The problem, apparently, is tied to Steam recognizing my integrated Intel graphics (as noted in my ProtonDB stats) but not my actual GPU (an EVGA GTX 970). The startup option I noted above (apparently) causes Steam/Proton to ignore the integrated graphics and use the real GPU. A word of warning; if an Intel integrated graphics driver is your only option, you're probably out of luck.
