You have to use custom Proton build. And rename AWVSSAO.exe to AWVSSAO_launcher.exe to even start the game.

Perhaps it's because I skipped launcher (as that did not want to start), I did not see any graphical settings. Game started windowed in full hd on my 2k screen.
Few frame drops here and there, nothing major
When playing alone or on dedicated server, the game itself ran fine.
In some missions, I experienced massive FPS drops, when my friends were reporting everything going smoothly.
- can't join friends game
- hosting game - friends sometimes could not join at all
- steam overlay didn't work, so inviting friends was not possible
Could only run on Proton 4.11

cutscenes seem to glitch out, but gameplay was without issues
game only ran windowed, but resolution changes worked
With Proton 5.8 GE worked like a charm
changing windows didn't release cursor, but after moving to windowed mode, had no problems
The game itself runs flawlessly, had one crash after 10 hours of gameplay, hopefully that won't repeat.

Had to install Origin to separate directory, the default was occupied by NFS HP remastered, and they don't seem to agree. I use dwm, Origin after start opens weird amounts of black windows, and it seems it needs focus on specific ones to actually start the game. Game had issues when starting in dwm not monocle (fullscreen) mode (black screen), after switching the game to borderless it starts every time. After the game closes, it doesn't kill wine properly, and game won't start again until I kill all the processes. Other than that, one minor issue - not with Linux, but the game - was my keyboard, I don't have numpad, and the game has very important menu accessible only through numpad, so I had to rebind KP_2, KP4, and KP_6 in system, as the game doesn't allow rebinding those keys.
Works out of the box without issues.
Origin actually starts correctly, even though it takes him a bit. But in the end game always starts, and I can play without any issues whatsoever.
Just disable any notifications in Origin client - it pops up windows, that steal focus from the game, which is just ridiculous.
I don't remember any issues, game worked exactly like on Windows. I had trouble starting it on Ubuntu, but everything just worked on Gentoo.
